David P Collins, Founder

David Collins has more than 35 years’ experience in the development of senior residential communities including assisted living, memory care, and 55+ active adult communities such as CCRCs. In 1980 David and two partners founded, American Retirement Villas (ARV), at one time the largest assisted living company in the United States. As President of ARV Capital, David led the company’s listing on NASDAQ in 1995. In the early 2000s David worked in Europe serving as President and Board Member of Sensara Benalmadena S.L., developing and operating Spain’s first residential community designed exclusively for people over the age of 55. The London Daily Telegraph called Sensara “…the best retirement development in Europe.” As a widely experienced authority, David has addressed audiences worldwide on the ageing of societies and the problems related to changes in tradition and culture as societies age in place. David has extensive knowledge of the unique challenges of site selection, feasibility ,and market focus in acceptance of senior living, and has applied his expertise to serving clients across international borders. He has been actively involved in the senior living industry in the UK, China, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, and Mexico, advising on acquisitions, feasibility, and operations. David has served as President and member of the board, Partner, and General Partner for Grupo Sensara S.L., and Sensara Vallarta, respectively in Malaga, Spain and Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. He currently serves on public and private boards in the US and Europe.
