Mr. Meyer assisted in business planning
and in establishing professional contacts for the development,
staffing and roll-out of a senior housing company in Spain.
He also consulted in the U.K., Germany, Portugal, Italy, Mexico
and Spain with investors, architects, contractors, professionals
and owners toward the objective of establishing and operating
multi-unit retirement housing and services projects.
As
chief operating officer of Áegis Assisted Senior Communities,
Jerry Meyer is responsible for all operations of Áegis’
communities in California, Washington, Kansas, Colorado and
Nevada.
Before joining Áegis in January
2001, Mr. Meyer was the President and CEO of SunBridge, Inc.,
a senior housing company, which was part of Sun Healthcare
Group, Inc. During his tenure, he successfully secured over
$200 million in new construction project financing. He was
responsible for developing the business plans, pro forma,
and budget for a 42-building rollout. Included in Mr. Meyer’s
responsibilities was the task of developing, constructing,
equipping and furnishing the assisted living building prototype,
while structuring all operations, marketing, development,
and finance systems.
The process of divestiture of Sun Healthcare
Group’s retirement and assisted living facilities in
Germany occurred during Mr. Meyer’s five years with
the company. Mr. Meyer was responsible for orchestrating the
activities of investment bankers, attorneys, buyers and the
seller in Germany. He successfully maintained the corporate
office and retained existing staff during the sale process.
From the divisional office in Berlin, Mr. Meyer managed operations
of the homes during the disposition period, maintaining constant
occupancy and revenue levels.
Prior to his work at SunBridge, Mr. Meyer
served as vice president and CEO for the Assisted Living Division
of Manor Care, Inc. where he increased revenues to $60 million
in two years. Mr. Meyer also directed the acquisition of 23
buildings.
Mr. Meyer was CEO of the senior living
division of Advantage Health Management Corporation, with
concurrent responsibilities of successfully developing and
operating the company’s hotel properties. His hospitality
industry experience includes Doubletree Hotels as well as
ownership and management of restaurants in Missouri and Connecticut.
Mr. Meyer holds a Master of Arts in City
and Regional Planning from Ohio State University, and Bachelor
of Arts in Urban Economics and History from the University
of Missouri. Mr. Meyer also participated in the Yale University
School of Management Executive Program. He has also taught
the senior housing course at Johns Hopkins University.
